The metal titans' frontman James Hetfield has filmed a video appealing for information to help find Morgan Harrington's killer
Metallica took part in an advertising campaign to help the FBI catch a man wanted in the death of a student who vanished after a concert band.
Student, 20-year-old Morgan Harrington, attended Virginia Tech University, and disappeared after the Metallica concert in October 2009 in Charlottesville. Her skeletal remains were discovered about three months later in a remote hay field about 10 kilometers from the concert hall.
Team leader James Hetfield was filmed a movie that you can see by scrolling down the page and clicking, which calls for any person with information about the case to present, reports Billboard.
Speaking on the film, Hetfield says in part: "Remember that any information - no matter how small you may think that is - may be the crucial piece you need to help investigators solve the case." Video was on YouTube and on the website by the FBI.
Local police offer a reward of $ 100,000 (£ 64.450), while Metallica themselves have offered an additional $ 50,000 (£ 32.225).
Harrington's mother Gil also revealed that the band was supporting the family and reached immediately after the news broke. She said: "The team reacted to it immediately a matter of days before James Hetfield spoke by telephone to the [Morgan's father] said Dan." As a father, I am outraged. "
