Adele '21 ': the longest No. 1 album since' Purple Rain '


Not surprisingly, Adele "21" album spent 22 weeks atop the Billboard 200, selling 297.000 (down 59%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. Now the longest No. 1 of the Prince & the Revolution "Purple Rain" soundtrack won the 24 weeks at No. 1 in 1984 and 1985.


It is also the "21's" ninth consecutive week at No. 1 - the most in-a-row frame No. 1 from "Titanic" soundtrack racked up 14 straight in 1998.

"21" - released just over a year ago in the USA - now sold 7.65 million in the U.S. this figure, 1.83 million were transferred in 2012.

Adele is the second album in the top 10 this week, and her first set, "19", descends 4-7 with 39 000 (down 56%).

As this week reflect the sales charts the week (ending 26 February) after a busy Grammy Awards-powered frame (ending 19 February), we see a lot of albums in the fall after rapid growth in sales last week. Fun. is basking in the success of the single "We Are Young" (feat. Janelle Monae), which is featured in a 2012 Chevrolet TV commercial for Sonic. The song sold 291.000 downloads this week, returning it to No. 1 (6-1) on the Digital Songs chart (up to 19%).

Already in the first 10, Tyga debut studio album, "Careless World: Rise of the last king," begins with No. 4 of 61 000. This combination of the first edition was bungled some weeks, courtesy of the sample re-issue. A good three or four days of album sales in the first week was mainly driven by Downloads (83% of its total), the album was to be re-sent to the stores after his attempt to Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have a Dream" speech appeared to be unsettled.

Kelly Clarkson "Stronger (What does not kill you)" rebounds 5-2 with 241.000 (a decrease of 4%), but Wanted's "Glad You Came" zooms 19-3 with 188.000 (up to 87%). The latter's gain is probably owed to the cast of "Glee" covering a tune on 21 February edition Fox series.

Adele "set fire to the Rain" slips 4-5 (167.000, down 34%), while BoB straight boundaries in No. 6 of "So Good" (164.000). Nicki Minaj on "Starships" is steady at number seven on the second week (155.000, down 24%), while the GOTY in "Somebody That I Used To Know" (featuring Kimbra) flies to the TOP 10 - climbing 17-8 (134 000; up to 17%).

LMFAO those "sexy and I know that" it is up one position to No. 9 with 113 000 (down 17%), while Chris Brown's "Turn Up Music" drops a place to No. 10 in its sophomore frame with 112.000 (down 37%).

Just outside the Top 10, Carrie Underwood arrives in No. 12 with her new single "Good Girl", selling 108 000 downloads. It enters the match after just three days of sales, and was released on Friday, 24 February - and a week to track ended on Sunday, February 26.

Overall album sales chart last week (ending 26 February) totaled 6.31 million units, up 18% compared to the sum last week of paragraph 7.72 million) and by 3% compared to the comparable sales week of 2011 (6.50 million). Year to date album sales stand at 48.01 million, an increase of 3% compared to the same total at this point last year, 46.45 million paragraphs).

Sales of digital music track in the past week amounted to 28.13 million downloads in the bottom 13% compared to last week of paragraph 32.28 million) and 6% stacked next to the comparable week of 2011 (26.48 million).
