Sad news for fans of classic rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose died Saturday in
Millbrae, California, according to his booking agent, Jim Douglas. He was the 64th
Montrose played with numerous rock acts during his long career, including Van Morrison, Edgar Winter Group and Boz Scaggs. He started his own band, Montrose, in 1973. The future of Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar was a member.
Among the hits were Montrose Bad scooter and Rock Candy.
According to AP, Health, Montrose had to fall for a while. He had battled prostate cancer and what Douglas called personal demons. "
Fellow rocker Peter Frampton Montrose commemorated on Twitter: "sad to hear the transmission of a friend of Ronnie Montrose was a wonderful man and an amazing guitarist, Ronnie, I'll miss the road.".
