Hall of Fame

In February Music Hall of Fame Country General shall name the three new recruits to the ranks of the most exclusive kind. With this in mind, we would like to offer our thoughts on who might be the winners in each category this year.

In the modern era ...

Garth Brooks - Yes, it's time to start thinking about the famous "Class of 89" and Garth Brooks will be at the top of the list. The numbers speak for themselves. Albums such as "No Fences" and "Ropin 'The Wind" proved that country music had taken back seat to other species.

Ronnie Milsap - a favorite of many in the City Music in this category - because, as the numbers speak for themselves. Almost every Milsap RCA released became a huge success - an incredible run of about twenty years. As versatile as any other singer, hit with a traditional sound, rock and soul. See how we live today, after almost forty years in Nashville, and you get the idea. Natural choice.

Oak Ridge Boys - The harmony is legendary, matched only by their achievements. Continues to dazzle with projects like "The Boys Are Back". But with his music and his many contributions to society, they have definitely left much more than they had.

Kenny Rogers - One of the greatest artists in history, a record in Nashville, Kenny was an integral part of country music to be known and loved around the world and all genres of music. The choice of songs - "Lucille", "Gambler" and "Islands in the Stream" to speak up to date.

Ricky Martin - In early 1980, Skaggs Kentucky native took songs from Carl Butler, Flatt & Scruggs and Webb Pierce and get the crowd to cool completely new. Furthermore, "Picky Ricky," as he became known, has instilled a high level of excellence of their album is still one of the most respected singers and pickers in Nashville. And what to do the same over the last fifteen years in the field of bluegrass.

At the age of veterans ...

Archie Campbell - Fans of country comedy today can not understand the importance of art as the East Tennessean. But before Campbell, all male comedians dressed country outfit hillbilly rube - usually with a piece of hay hanging from his mouth. Surprised Campbell Grand Ole Opry management in 1958, leaving the Ryman stage in a suit and tie. No matter how he was dressed, however. He called their deaths - and he did it, on stage and "Hee Haw" for nearly thirty years.

June Carter Cash - it may be surprising that it is not in the room, but his contribution as a singer, actor, writer, and certainly merit induction - whatever it is the woman who helped Johnny Cash from the edge.

Jerry Reed - Although the weather did its best known as a comic sidekick to Burt Reynolds in several movies in the '70s, Reed was also one of the dominant guitarists of his era, in a style that influenced many who came after him. And his film and television work helped him as one of the best known artists of his time.

Connie Smith - One of the most attractive women, music, country music has ever seen. She hit the ground running in 1964 "Once a day," and continued to rack from success to success throughout 1970. Along the way his music mark on the singer almost all women who entered Davidson County in search of fame.

Hank Williams, Jr. - Well, it could be either in VA or modern category. But he will not draw in 1964 and achieved many successes on the list before its commercial prosperity of 1980. He completely revolutionized the live show aspect of country music and his albums are not released a record, but the events. Is it hard sometimes? Abrasive bit, maybe? Sure, but his name can be the most glaring omission in this list.

No performer, composer and recording and / or musician on the route:

Don Rich - what we love. As a singer, violinist, guitarist and harmony, he had no friends. For example, look at the career Rich Buck Owens - and after his death in 1974. Suffice it to say, although arguments can be made to Hargus "Pig" Robbins, Hank Garland, Johnny Gimble, and many others.
