John Rich does not hide his admiration for the Alabama lead singer Randy Owen, even producing his solo album, "One On One", a few years ago. So it stands to reason the singer had to take a specific amount of pride in being the first artist Randy Owen Angels are amongst us prize this weekend at the Country cares about children Seminary St. Jude in Memphis.
The award is a member of the country music industry who demonstrates immeasurable commitment and dedication to children fighting cancer and other deadly diseases at St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
Last year, Rich drew public attention to the hospital the highest rating children's cancer research when he won the NBC hit show "Celebrity Apprentice." Rich competed in the show named Jude and helped raise more than $ 1.4 million for the organization.
"Jude has a very special place in my heart," said Rich. "This is like no other place and I am honored to raise awareness of this organization and get the first Angels Among Us Award Randy."
Owen started Country Cares for St. Jude Children 1989, when he turned to his fellow country music artists, radio stations and loyal listeners of country music in order to support the mission of saving the life of St. Jude. Since it began, Country Cares has raised more than $ 400 million for St. Jude.
