Two years ago, a trio led Corea played two weeks stay in the Blue Note club in New York that honored late piano genius Bill Evans (bassist Gomez and Motian were recently deceased vets from the group of Evans). On the resulting two albums live, pianist Corea and his colleagues have successfully suggest introspection, Evans' dreamy, slightly rocking style mix of classics and originals Evans from each of the three. - Jerry Shriver
This latest collaboration between the two great jazz is so warm and moving his acclaimed predecessor, Steal Away, artistic album of spirituals and the 1995 folk songs. It was recorded shortly before Jones died in 2010 at age 91, but his graceful piano and Haden on bass sumptuous fill these tunes with sweet elegance. -Steve Jones
