Dave Grohl says Grammy acceptance speech

Dave Grohl Grammy speech is to accept the Best Actor Award Rock (Foo Fighters won the foot) seemed like a good idea at the time. He passionately extolled the virtues of "human element" in music.

But he just issued a statement to clarify what he meant, because as he says, a lot of people upset with his comments.

Here's what it says:

Oh, what a night we had last Sunday at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Flair! Glamour! SeaCrest! Where do I start? Chillin 'Lil' Wayne ... adorable mother Cyndi Lauper Meeting on ... Free Coldplay flashing bracelet ..... much too much to summarize. It really is a little blur. But if there is one thing I remember very clearly, was the adoption of a Grammy for best performance of the Rock ... and then says:

"For me, this award means a lot because it shows that the human element of music is what is important. Singing into the microphone and learn to play an instrument and learning to do your craft, it is important for people to do ... Here not about being perfect, it's not absolutely correct sound, it's not about what is happening on your computer. It's about what's going on here [heart], and what happens here [head]. "

No Gettysburg Address, but hey ...... I'm a drummer, remember?

Grohl says, "never has a 33-second rant acceptance provoked the fury of caps-lock postboard like ode to my lil 'to an analog recording. OK .... may Kanye has me on this one, but ..."

He says further:

I love music. I love all kinds of music. From Kyuss to Kraftwerk, Pinetop Perkins, the Prodigy, Dead Kennedys to Deadmau5 ..... I love music. Electronic or acoustic, it does not matter to me. A simple act of making music is a beautiful gift that all people are blessed. And a variety of musicians, another personality that makes the music so exciting and ..... person.

This is what I meant. "The human factor." That thing that happens when the song speeds up slightly, and consequently little harsh vocals. That thing that makes people like people. Somewhere along the line these things have become "bad" things, and also of the great advances in digital recording technology over the years they have become easily "fixed." The end result? I my humble opinion ..... a lot of music that sounds great, but lacks personality. One thing that makes the music so exciting in the first place.

And, unfortunately, some of these great achievements have taken account of the actual craft of performance. Listen, I'm not Yngwie Malmsteen. I'm John Bonham. Hell ... I'm not even Josh Groban, for that matter. But I try really (expletive) drive so that you do not have to rely on anything but my hands and my heart To play a song. I'm doing the best that I possibly can at my own limitations, and assume that it sounds like me. Because what I think is most important. This should be true, right? Everyone wants something real.

I do not know how to do what Skrillex doing (though I ... I love it), but I know that the reason why he so loved because it sounds like Skrillex, and this is badass. We have a different process and a different set of tools, but the "boat" is just as important, I'm sure. I mean ..... if it were that simple, anyone can do it, right? (See what I did there?)

So, do not give me two Crown Royals, and then ask me to make a speech at your wedding, I might just bust the benefits of recording to 2 inch tape.

Now I think I have to go cry on some kids get off my lawn.
