Whitney Houston in memory of Kevin Costner as "The Greatest"

On Saturday afternoon, paragraph 18 February), Whitney Houston was sent to rest by family and friends at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, during the mixing dubbed her funeral Home-Going. Though once a major pop diva is the man Bobby Brown reportedly had just left the ceremony began at noon, on-screen pop diva is a leading man Kevin Costner gave a touching eulogy in her honor.

In 1992, Houston made her debut in "The Bodyguard," a star turn, paired it to the forefront of Costner in the title role. Written by Lawrence Kasdan and directed by Mick Jackson, a romantic drama then Frank Farmer, a secret service agent-turned-bodyguard, whose job security pop star Rachel Marron with the stalker.

The film goes on revenue of over $ 400 million worldwide box office, a diamond-selling soundtrack spawned Houston game-changing interpretation of "I Will Always Love You", best-selling single of all time. But according to Costner, Warner Bros., the studio behind "The Bodyguard" and not only had to be convinced that the film should be the signature song cover of Dolly Parton country - but that part should go to Houston.

"At the height of her fame as a singer, I asked her to be my co-star," Costner recalled on Saturday.

The filmmakers were concerned, however, as suggested, should "think of another singer ... Could someone white." Though Costner confessed "nobody ever said it aloud," agreed that the consequences were fair considering how much was at stake. The only problem was, as Costner put it, "I thought it was perfect for what we were trying to do."

Costner continues about his choice of casting, even delaying the production of a year, so that Whitney can complete the trip. And although the actor knew that's all but given part of it, he submitted it to the screen test, because he wanted to be "fair".

Houston, possibly the biggest pop stars at the time, was frightened. Costner went to his trailer on the test to reassure her, holding her hand and tells her that she looked beautiful. Despite this, the singer focused on a million things imagined to be wrong. Feeling insecure, Houston scrubbed her camera ready to make up for the benefit of a thick layer to cover it on the road. Patina color cosmetics was perhaps an apt metaphor for how Megastar masked her insecurity.

Of course, four minutes in, the work has been smudging makeup Houston, the singer was devastated. "I just wanted to look my best," said Costner.

"Call it doubt, call it fear, I had mine," Costner said the internal struggles that come with fame. "Whitney knew, despite her success and fame throughout the world, still wondered," Am I good enough? Am I pretty enough? Do they like me? It was a burden which is the great and the parts that caused her to fall in the end. "

Houston fought very well the problems of addiction, in particular during the turbulent 14-year marriage to singer Bobby Brown. Was found dead weeks ago at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the official cause of death is still being investigated. But Costner emphasized her personal turmoil should not muddy their legacy. "As the debate heats up ... with the greatest singers of the last century, as the lists are drawn up, will have little relevance to me or her name is not on it," Costner announced applause.

"Giddy, Whitney, off you go," Costner continues to tears, "escorted by an army of angels to His Father And when she sings in front of him, do not worry -. Be good enough."
