President Barack Obama and Rev. Al Green on the road?
Obama joined soul singer in the Democratic fundraiser on Thursday, a month after the president began a short, impromptu version of Green's "Let's be together" at the Apollo Theatre in New York.
Obama thanked the Green, prompting a member of the audience shouting, "Give us a verse!" The president refused to sing this time, speaking of the 70 campaign donors that he "took a chance on the Apollo and I'm not going to risk again."
"After the re-election may be going on tour with the good Reverend - to be his opening act," Obama said.
But he warned: "I do not want to lose any more votes because of my singing voice."
Obama is humming with "Be Together", from the vibrato "I" and ending with the line, "so in love with you," quickly went viral on the Internet after New York fundraiser. His campaign issued a ringing tone to the president of the railway as a soul singer.
Before the president's speech on Thursday, Green was heard singing his classic work on the fundraiser in Pacific Heights neighborhood in San Francisco.
