Grammys' Top Categories 2012 - Record of the Year



"Rolling In the Deep"

Perhaps the most inescapable song from 2011, "Rolling In the Deep" spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over 5.6 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Paul Epworth, producer renowned for his work with British electronic acts (Florence & The Machine, Friendly Fires, Sam Sparro) gave the song Strong, 60s climate of the soul. This is the first record Epworth in nomination for the second year and following the 2010 Adele nod for "Chasing pavements".

"Holocene" is the second single from the debut of Justin Vernon's band Bon Iver on the second album, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in July. "Holocene", as all the tracks 10 Bon Iver, was written, composed and produced by Vernon. It is also the only record of the nominee for the year that never Charted on the Billboard Hot 100 Track in the quiet use of hand claps and drums as the occasional rhythmic accompaniment makes installation soundtrack for winter days. This is the first album Bon Iver in the nomination of the year.

Producer Markus Dravs gives the work a hard rock band that meshes with the band Bluegrass more traditional solutions. "The Cave", which debuted at No. 2 on the chart rock songs, No. 3 on Alternative Songs and No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, provides Mumford & sons, the first record of the year nomination. Dravs helped Arcade Fire take home album of the year Grammy Award last year for his work in the suburbs.

Katy Perry began years at the top of the Hot 100 with "Firework", which was also part of a medley of hits performed during last year's Grammy Awards. The single was one of two songs produced by Swedish production team Stargate (Mikkel S. Eriksen aka Tor Erik Hermansen and) for the Teenage Dream Perry and is kind of a departure from their signature brand of dance guitar-driven R & B and rhythmic. "Fireworks" also had his own life as an empowerment anthem. This is the first record of Perry's nomination of the year, while Stargate was nominated in 2008 Beyonce "Irreplaceable".
