Nicki Minaj and Rihanna won four nominations for the American Music Awards in every Tuesday at the polls were open to the public, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the award.
Christina Aguilera, actress first announced in the series, the producers have joined Tuesday to announce the nominations for the JW Marriott Los Angeles LA Live complex adjacent to the Nokia Theatre, where the ceremony will take place on 18 November. ABC will issue a three-hour show.
Among the artists who set many appointments were Drake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Usher, with three each, and Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, fun., Gotye, J. Cole, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan and Pitbull with two each. Prizes will be awarded in 20 categories, including the new, electronic dance music, in which the nominees are David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Skrillex.
Rihanna, Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5 and the Billboard Woman of the Year, Katy Perry, is ready for the first AMA Artist of the Year award. Cole, fun., Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction are the New Artist of the Year contenders.
Besides, the anniversary of the "AMA number 40, which will be the first performance since the death of series creator Dick Clark. Producer Larry Klein, who has worked with Clark on the first edition, says the show will be full of clips from its history as well as a presentation of about 17 concerts.
"Great performances, acceptance speeches scandalous - moments when you feel strong emotions," Klein told Billboard, noting that the entire three-hour show will be a tribute to Clark.
After spending time in Dick Clark Productions files Klein recited some highlights: Paul McCartney interview filmed in Jamaica in 1982 as part of a tribute to Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston in 1994, Eddie Murphy and Michael Jackson.
Clark was a presence behind the scenes of the AMA as Klein will save on air tribute to the "New Year's Eve Rockin 'Eve," also produced for ABC. His goal now is to maintain the spirit of the series, which began in 1974 in honor of the television music of 1973 in 16 categories. The first show had four performances.
"Dick would say that we are an entertainment program with prizes and music like wall to wall," says Klein. "This is a celebration of music."
Winners will be determined by online voting at the Coca-Cola AMA voting amavote.com and AMA.abc.com.
In the days preceding the awards, Lance Bass, Kimberly Cole, Megan Turney and will be held weekly web series "AMAS On Demand," which will be published on YouTube and ABC.com.
