"Vogue," MTV Video Music Awards (1990)
Backed by her Blond Ambition Tour dancers, Madonna closed the 1990 "MTV Video Music Awards", reminding people that the M in MTV's constant for Madonna. Dressed in full costume of Marie Antoinette, lip-sync diva's huge Billboard Hot 100 number one single before carried on a chaise lounge.
"Hung Up," The 48th Annual Grammy Awards (2006)
In his third (and last) Grammy Awards performance, Madonna and her holographic dual mixed with Gorillaz in the show-stopping opening number. After strutting action of alternative rock, a series of diva in her top 10 Hot 100 hit "Hung Up" from her very bendy dancers. Another "Hung Up" performance almost this list, but repressed (ledwo!) The Grammy concert. What? Her amazing debut TV performance of "Hung Up" at the MTV Europe Music Awards (attention here).
"Like a Virgin," MTV Video Music Awards (1984)
This was the first "MTV Video Music Awards", and Madonna was riding high as one of the networks of the new darlings of young people. After winning pair of Top 10 Hot 100 hits in 1984, "Borderline" and "Lucky Star" diva introduced her upcoming single, "Like a Virgin" for the masses MTV VMA. This is one of the most famous VMA performances ever, thanks in part to the skin reveals Madonna's dance (really, was just rolling on the floor).
"Sooner or Later," The 63rd Academy Awards (1991)
Perhaps a surprising entry on this list is Madonna's performance of Oscar-winning song "Sooner or Later" in 1991 Academy Award. The melody is from her 1990 movie "Dick Tracy", which won the composer Stephen Sondheim an Academy Award for best original song. Often noted by fans as one of its finest voices, Madonna was in full Marilyn Monroe mode here, vamping and va-va-vooming its way through a number of Bolts.
"Express Yourself," MTV Video Music Awards (1989)
Where do I start? Light up the stairs! Bustiers! Running-man! Crotch-grab! With only two copies of dancer / singers (longtime cohort Niki Haris and Donna De Lory), Madonna has shown that you do not need pyrotechnics and dancers to heat armada TV stage. (Watch out for the 4:15 mark, where Madonna gives us a first taste of her vogueing - months before she released her smash single "Vogue").
